Welcome to a new post series called Phonics Fridays. The goal of these posts are to share little tidbits of phonics knowledge that you can use in your everyday reading.
What is phonics? Phonics is the relationship between letters and the sounds they make. We have 26 letters in the English language. Each letter makes at least one sound. When you put letters together in a specific order, they form a word that can be read or spoken and has meaning.
For example:
C , A , T are all letters.
C says /c/ , A says /a/ , T says /t/.
When you put them together, those letters for the word CAT!
